He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands

November 1, 2008 - Leave a Response

According to the online source, Wikipedia, “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands” is a spiritual song that made the popular song charts in a 1958 version by Laurie London, which went all the way to #1 of the Most Played by Jockeys song list in the USA.

Who doesn’t know the lyrics of that song by heart….I’ll refresh your memory quickly…

He’s got the whole world in His hands [Repeat 4x]
He’s got the wind and the rain in His hands [Repeat 3x]
He’s got the whole world in His hands
He’s got the sun and the moon in His hands. [Repeat 3x]
He’s got the little bitty baby in His Hands. [Repeat 3x]
He’s got you and me Brother in His hands. [Repeat 3x]
He’s got everybody here in His hands. [Repeat 3x]

I leave you today with the powerful words of the song we’ve all sang or heard at one point or another. I hope the next time you hear it, you may think of it a little “bitty” different. Praise God for all the tiny toes I’ve had the pleasure of photographing. I know each parent feels like they hold the whole world in their hands. Don’t you think that’s how God may have meant for it to be?

Shine on,

Beth

Children of Light

November 1, 2008 - Leave a Response

Photographing newborns is where my heart is. Each time I hold a baby, I praise God for how fearfully & wonderfully made we are. The light I use in a photo session is only temporary. I leave each family with a memory, yes, but my true intent is to shed some light on our amazing Father God, so my talent has truly served it’s purpose. Jesus said, “For a brief time still, the light is among you. Walk by the light you have so darkness doesn’t destroy you. If you walk in darkness, you don’t know where you’re going. As you have the light, believe in the light. Then the light will be within you, and shining through your lives. You’ll be children of light.” May you be touched by His Light through mine. Shine On, Beth

Back to my First Love

March 23, 2009 - Leave a Response

Where does the time go?  The holidays have long come and gone.  Easter is almost here and the visions of summer are One of My First LOVES!quickly approaching.  I was recently out doing a photo session that reminded me just how much I enjoy photographing children.  There’s been seasons in my career where I have had to place my photography on hold and do other things that were more important at the time.  Today, however, I’m returning to my first love and I am reclaiming the “why” behind my passion for children & photography.

I would like to ask you to take part in one of my upcoming specials.  As many know, I position myself as one of the only film photographers still around.  Don’t worry, film is still available and I highly recommend it, however this “mini session” season in the upcoming months is the perfect time to capture some fun, economy-friendly shoots of the entire family.  I’m kicking off my “Back to my First Love” campaign to celebrate my 10th year in business and my true meaning behind why I do what I do.
Here’s how it all started……Back when I first started my photography business in 1999, I scheduled sessions because people wanted to have their child photographed by someone outdoors.  Now there’s no shortage in outdoor photographers, no doubt!  I had no experience, no credibility, a very small portfolio with a large drive to learn.  I quickly became an overnight success.  I thank God for the early breaks and success I had.  Not to mention the nice book cover deals and government photographic opportunities that fell into my lap.  All those efforts worked together to help establish me as a professional photographer.  I quickly found that my favorite subject to photograph was infants.  I can not tell you how many “Tiny Toes” I have photographed over the years.  So part of my special is all about some TINY TOES!  So, if you’ve just had a baby or know someone who has, let’s talk!  At least now I have an endless portfolio to prove my passion for those tiny precious people!

In addition, in my early years, I would run an annual Easter special, Father’s Day special, Mother’s Day special and Beach specials.  It’s all back with mini sessions available the months of those holidays.  You have your option of a full service session with film, a full digital session or a combo of both.  The only difference is the price points.  You decide.

Finally, the 10 year celebration wouldn’t be complete without a special in my hometown city of Meridian!  WHOHOO!  My photography business started when I moved to Meridian after graduating from college!  So to all my Meridian families (thanks to the power of facebook!), drop me an email!  Let’s get this party started!

So, join me in getting back to my first love.  The simplicity and pleasure of the art of photographing children & families just because I can.  For full details, check next post or email me at info@bethcarrphoto.com

Love to all!  Let the Light Shine!

God-Blessed Eyes

November 13, 2008 - Leave a Response

May I be so bold to say that as a photographer, my work is marked by extreme close up face shoots and the sessions I do of tiny toes!?!?!  I absolutely love, more than any other session, those of newborns.  I feel like God has given me “God-blessed Eyes” to capture the spirit of a child…especially a small, newborn.  How can you not look at this image and thank your creator of His amazing blessings?

I am in awe with each session I do of a newborn.  WOW!  i ALWAYS SMILE WHEN I SEE THIS IMAGE.
I leave you with a verse from Matthew 13 from the Message translation…..
“But you have God-blessed eyes—Eyes that see!  And God-blessed ears—Ears that Hear!  A lot of people, prophets and humble believers among them, would have given anythign to see what you are seeing, to hear what you are hearing, but never had the chance.

Be thankful you’ve seen and heard!  Pass it on….

Have a blessed day!
Beth

Trust Me, My Friends!

November 13, 2008 - Leave a Response

This was one of those sessions that I just knew I needed to do.  So, I called (or maybe emailed) the family and just about insisted on doing a session for their family.

Can I just say that there are several images from that session last year that still stick in my mind so vividly.  They remind me of the confidence in asking my clients to just “trust” my process.  Most parents will say, as they call to schedule a session, that it will be impossible for me to get their children on film in a natural way.  My response to them is, “virtually impossible, maybe….but trust my process, & I promise you will not be disappointed”.

My talent is more in relating to the children and getting them to respond to me rather than manipulating light.  I have often said that it’s being in the right place at the right time that is key to my success.  Trusting our Heavenly Father to lead us to the lives we can influence.  Trusting His Process over our own.  WOW!  It makes photographing YOUR family so much more meaningful. Relying on Rock Solid Light is the key.

Shine on, my friends!  Spread the Word!

Take Heart

November 6, 2008 - Leave a Response

Oh my Greatness!  Words can not describe the fun I had with this session.  I know…I know….I often say how i do much better chasing 2 year olds around or photographing a tiny, new born….But on this day my once lost joy was made present again and I can’t think of a better session for it to have happened during.  Time stood still…I was exactly where I was suppose to be.
This woman has become a mentor to me.  A woman who freely shares wisdom as the spirit has leads.  We have become great friends since working together.  I feel blessed to have crossed her path.  God’s divine providence is amazing!

Thank you, my friend, for being a good and faithful servant.

Inspire someone today.  It’s contagious.  Smiling big, Beth

The Eyes Reflect the Heart

November 6, 2008 - Leave a Response

In this case, literally. Although I didn’t post the image that would make the title make sense to you, I can tell you the story just the same.

While I confess that I feel much more comfortable with my camera in front of small people, I do have the pleasure of photographing other ages, as well. In this instance, this engaged couple sat properly for each shot and obeyed my every request. I think the drive time to the session took more time then the entire session it self!

The part that stole my heart was this gentleman who, when asked, began making funny faces at his bride at my request. I was zooming in for a close up and realized, as often is the case, that I could see his perfect reflection in her eye. The digital copy didn’t do it justify so I thought instead I would let your imagination take it from here. So I posted this image instead…It’s one of my favorite of the bunch. I have encouraged her to get with me and let’s print from the negative in an unique way to really appreciate the fact…We’ll see.
Thanks to this fun couple…The pleasure was all mine.

May God Bless you today.

Through Thick & Thin…

November 2, 2008 - Leave a Response

I have had the rich blessing of photographing this family for years and years. You all know I am not good with time lines, but I do know this is the third baby plan I have done for this family. I often ask myself why she continues to return….but when I saw this picture, I answered my own question.

The posed 3, 6, 9 and 12 months pictures that a baby plan consists of are nice and necessary…especially we’ve you’ve done it for the “other children” (by the way, this mom should get a reward for staying on track with the THIRD one! I don’t think my second child even has a baby book!) (WAIT…she has a baby book….it just doesn’t have the first picture in it!) Anyway…This isn’t the “perfect” baby plan picture, but I am so blessed this family understands that I encourage them to come prepared to be photographed…it’s the unexpected moments that the generations to come will talk about….It’s these captured moments that will stand the test of time and engrave in our memories the connection we share as family.

Shine a little a light today….

Beth

Come a little closer….

November 2, 2008 - Leave a Response

Oh the joy in photographing this family. I have been photographing this family for years. I won’t pretend to remember when exactly it started, but I know I began with a baby plan for their second daughter, then third…then came the arrival of their son. Oh, let’s just say it’s been years.

I post this images because it makes me smile. But even above that, when meeting with this client today and showing her the newest proofs, God used her to confirm small still voice…the one I’ve heard saying, “come a little closer, my child, the best is yet to come”!

Peace is with you…

There are often moments that I have the pleasure of photographing that truly reflect peace. This is one of them. Need I write more?  I won’t. I will end by reflecting on how blessed I am to have had my lenses in front of this moment.

WOW! Thanks to my community of clients.

May Peace be with You, Beth
